POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Informatics Systems Analyst is responsible for the management, oversight, and forward movement of all Research Informatics-supported infrastructure projects, requires strong project management skills, leads the coordination of various projects related to the Research Operations data capture to support the analysis of BMC Research Operations scope of work and describe the BMC clinical research portfolio.
The Research Informatics Systems Analyst will also work closely with the Research Informatics Data Analyst to review and optimize data capture and data streams; generate regular reports for leadership, and provide ad hoc analysis as necessary; therefore, this position requires strong knowledge of data pipelines, quality assurance, and strict adherence to research and regulatory data policies to ensure secure transmission/retrieval of data.

Research Informatics serves supports the Boston Medical Center (BMC) research community in research data strategy and infrastructure by leading optimization efforts to improve data quality and implementing innovative strategies to leverage research-quality data that support the institution's broad research goals.
BMC Research Informatics collaborates with BMC Research Operations on their data capture, tracking, reporting, and utilization regarding research awards and projects at BMC. Research Operations data comes from a wide rage of clinical and administrative systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Systems Improvement Management
- Support the Research Informatics team in developing automated systems and workflows to create efficient data processes for key Research Informatics initiatives.
- Identify gaps in the data pipeline and implement recommendations to ensure comprehensive, accurate metrics are reported. Identify critical data and key performance indicators across data systems.
- Leads and participates in all aspects of testing, including reviewing requirements, writing test cases, creating test data, testing enhancements, and executing tests for data capture systems utilized by BMC Research Operations.
- Diagnoses data workflow process problems and proposes solutions, coordinating with other technical and/or business resources as necessary for assistance.
Data Dashboarding & Visualizations Development
- Work with technical and non-technical staff to translate the business needs into data capture systems, reporting systems, and dashboards that support analysis of BMC Research Operations programmatic and clinical research data.
- Develops, manages, and deploys standard reports and data visualizations/dashboards (using R, Tableau, or similar data visualization tool) based on Research Informatics and Research Operations requirements.
- Collaborates with the Director of Research Informatics, Research Informatics Systems Analyst, and/or directly with end users to ensure reports are accurate and complete.
- Stays current on BMC Research Operations data needs, implementing upgrades on existing reports to improve reporting solutions.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Provides general analytical support to Research Operations and/or management as requested.
- Completes special projects and other duties as needed.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, to ensure that exceptional customer service and patient care may be provided.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in System's Improvement, Information Science, Computer Information Systems, Public Health or similar. Master's Degree a plus.
- At least 3 years experience successfully coordinating systems-level IT projects and/or complex data systems projects with multiple stakeholders
- At least 1 year of experience in data visualization tools and creation of dashboards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to use R, Tableau, or similar data visualization tool required
- Experience managing data workflow solutions in a dynamic and highly integrated organization.
- Demonstrated ability to use R, SQL, or similar coding/programming language a plus.
- Experiene with healthcare information management, healthcare analytics, clinical research, clinical data warehouses, other relevant healthcare field is a plus.
