About the Job
The Reality Labs org aims to connect people from all over the world through world-class AR/VR hardware and software. The XR Spatial AI team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Meta products. Specifically, our engineering and research topics cover broad scene understanding and multimodal AI areas including geometrical and semantic 3D reconstruction, scene graph generation, visual-language models, spatial reasoning, and so on. Our team is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the developer and user value and related new experiences.Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Research Scientist Intern, Computer Vision and Multimodal AI (PhD) Responsibilities:
- Participate in cutting-edge Computer Vision & Machine Learning research and development for VR/AR/MR related topics
- Develop technology that will be part of mass-market shipping consumer products
- Document and present research progress and aim to publish findings at high-impact CV/ML conferences
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering in the field of computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics, or robotics
- 3+ years experience with Python and/or C++
- 2+ years experience with modern deep learning frameworks like PyTorch
- Knowledge in CV/ML, in one or more of the following domains: 3D computer vision, object detection and tracking, large language models, retrieval augmented generation
- Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Ability to communicate complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by publications in top CV/ML conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.) or journals (e.g., TPAMI, IJCV, etc.)
- Demonstrated software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, open source contributions, or research
- Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
