Job Description Summary

The Research Specialist A/B will work with a highly interactive research team performing pre-clinical translational research using animal and cellular models.

Job Responsibilities




Research Specialist A duties:



+ Maintain and manage mouse colonies used for pre-clinical research.


+ Genotype genetically modified mouse models.


+ Harvest tissues from mammalian sources.


+ Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment related to animal studies.


+ Prepare solutions, reagents, and media as needed.





Research Specialist B duties:


All duties listed above, plus:



+ Perform primary neuron (cortical, hippocampal) isolation and ex vivo culture from mouse brains.


+ Perform primary cardiomyocyte (ventricular) isolation and ex vivo culture from mouse and rat heart


+ Assay transcript and protein content from mammalian tissues


+ Write and amend animal protocols.





Qualifications




RS A: Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry or molecular biology, or related field preferred, and 0-1 year previous laboratory experience required. Willingness to work with mice and rats required. Experience with molecular biology methods, cell culture and protein biochemistry preferred. Must have strong computer skills, organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively with other lab members.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
