The University of Washington Autism Center (UWAC) is currently seeking a full-time Research Study Coordinator-I (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) to support ongoing research related to autism in the Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD), Department of Radiology, and Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. These efforts include collecting research questionnaires and interviews, developmental and neuropsychological testing, and MRI imaging as part of the Infant Brain Imaging Study (IBIS) to investigate longitudinal brain and behavioral development of autism, among other ongoing projects at UWAC. This is a 2-year full-time position with the possibility for a longer commitment, as funding permits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assist in developing research projects, data collection materials, and strategies for data management and analysis
+ Recruit research participants through community organizations, parent groups, and research databases and maintain positive connections with participants to ensure ongoing participation in longitudinal studies.
+ Screen and qualify human subjects’ eligibility to participate in research studies by completing phone and/or in-person interviews
+ Obtain informed consent and serve as the contact for study participants
+ Schedule participants for research activities, coordinate staffing, and oversee research supplies and restocking
+ Collect participant research questionnaires and interviews, saliva and urine samples, eye tracking and EEG, and other study-related measures; provide needed support during participant visits
+ Train parents and assist in MRI scanning of adolescents, children, and infants including screening and preparation for MRI
+ Assist in maintaining research databases and monitoring data for quality assurance and control
+ Interface with the University of Washington Institutional Review Board, including completion of procedure modifications, status reports, and progress reports
+ Ensure adherence to research protocols, data security regulations, and Human Subjects Research ethics
+ Create reports as needed and prepare figures/graphs/tables for presentations and publications and assist in manuscript and grant preparation
+ Direct the work of assigned staff (e.g., student volunteers and interns)
+ Complete related duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience performing work in support of clinical, biomedical, or behavioral research studies involving human subject OR equivalent education/experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, or related field
+ Prior experience with human subjects research
+ Experience with autism

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to write, finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee will be frequently asked to communicate via zoom or the telephone. WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Schedule is normally 8a to 5p, M-F, but is not always fixed and workload does vary depending on the availability of our research participants.
+ Night and weekend work will be occasionally required.
+ The incumbent’s first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule.
+ Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.
