Hale O Meleana in Honolulu, Hawaii is looking for a Part-time Resident Assistant to help us with sourcing, locating, and recruiting talented, best qualified, and culture-add candidates who embrace Ohana's mission and values. Under the direct supervision of the Resident Care Coordinator/Licensed Nurse and indirect supervision of the Director of Nursing, provides care and services for residents to include personal care and activities of daily living. Works to promote, maintain and encourage all residents to function at their highest physical, mental and psychosocial level. Performs job duties in accordance with Ohana Pacific Management Company (OPMC) Core Values and Core Behaviors.
Shift: Part-time Night Shift
Part-time = 20 hours a week 6:00 pm - 6:00 am
Duties include but are not limited:
- Orients residents to the apartment and community: Bathroom, call pendant system, shower schedule, and lanai/common areas; introduces to guests at table; informs of meal schedule and snack times; and informs of activity calendar and where activities are held.
- Requesting inventory list from RCC/LN and ensuring that all items listed are accounted for, if not present, check with Housekeeping and Business Office Manager.
- Strips bed and place linen in hamper if furnished.
- Assists resident with their physical needs including positioning, feeding, transporting, transferring and toileting, ambulating, personal hygiene, and dressing.
- Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned: dusting, sweeping, mopping, re-stocking items, wiping down tables, chairs and hand rails, vacuuming, polishing, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Ensures resident bed is made daily.
- Wash, dry, fold and put away (as requested) resident personal laundry.
- Assist with activities and appointments when required and/or be responsible for getting the resident to a scheduled activity.
- Reviews care plans at least weekly and whenever an interim care plan is updated, changed or added.
- Assists residents to designated table for meals/snacks.
- Provide transfer assistance with: staff, gait belts, bed rails, walker, mechanical lift; Provide ambulation assistance with gait belt, staff, cane, walker, parallel bars.
- Appropriately monitors residents condition and reports to RCC/LN in a timely manner.
- Correctly and completely documents information related to resident.
- Cleans and prepares resident room daily.
- Delivers and re-stocks the resident's incontinent supplies.
- Reads, understands and appropriately documents on the 24 hour communication reports.
- Responds to resident calls, call pendant call lights, alarms immediately. Responds to family requests immediately. Informs RCC/LN when required.
- Reports injury to resident, visitor and/or self to RCC/LN immediately and reports illness/change in resident condition to RCC/LN.
- Provides a safe environment by cleaning and clearing walkways.
- Maintains responsibility and in good condition assigned equipment: pagers, keys, name tags, and uniform where applicable
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Satisfactory completion of a Nurse's Aide Program
- CNA Certification preferred.
- Current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in long term care, healthcare, or work with the elderly preferred. Good command of English, both written and verbal. Must possess the verbal ability to communicate tactfully with guests, caregivers, visitors, physicians, government agencies / personnel and the general public. Able to meet the physical and emotional demands of providing resident care.
- First Aid and CPR preferred. (can be done in-house).
- Must have current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
