With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc. is the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England. We are seeking to fill Residential Counselor positions and add valuable members to our team to accomplish our mission!
This individual would be part of a 24/7 team responsible for the safety and welfare of up to 16 females and their children and residing in our Transitional Care Facility (ESG Emergency Solutions Grant (HUD)). This program is uniquely able to admit civilians and veterans. The individuals can reside in the program for up to two years but the typical stay is less than 12 months, and in some cases, residents are able to stay permanently after graduating from the transitional program.
We are actively hiring for all shifts, shift and hourly pay details are as follows.
- 1st Shift (7:00am to 3:00pm) $14.00/ hour
- 2nd Shift (3:00pm to 11:00pm) $14.75/ hour
- 3rd Shift (11:00pm to 7:00am) $15.25/ hour
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:
- Provides safety and security for all residents, staff, visitors and Veterans Inc. property on site.
- Maintains resident safety and confidentiality by utilizing the wand and checking all bags as residents enter the facility; administering breathalyzer to all clients every time they enter the program; administering random drug testing on clients and forwards incoming calls for residents to voicemail.
- First responder for client-related emergencies, RC are trained in CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration.
- Maintains building security by ensuring keys are properly locked up and by conducting accountability rounds while on shift.
- Maintains security of company vehicles.
- Answers the telephone and directs all incoming calls to the appropriate staff member. Maintains knowledge of ongoing program issues and developments and informs supervisor of issues and concerns.
- Prepares and submits detailed shift and incident reports of all activities, incidents and emergencies that occur during shift.
- Assists with training staff as needed.
- Performs light janitorial and maintenance duties as required to include mopping, sweeping, trash pick- up, etc.
- Attends and participates in all Veterans Inc. and external meetings are required.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with the clients, staff volunteers and visitors.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working in security, residential or direct care services
