Position Overview:
The Lead Electrician PV Installer manages a crew of 3-5 installers and spearheads the installation including balance of system layout, conduit and wiring runs, service disconnects, inverter installation, grid intertie, and voltage testing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure crew and job site safety
- Understand and implement best practices while working near energized electrical components
- Lead quality installations based on system design specifications
- Lead and train crews on AC and DC component of residential PV project implementation
- Problem solve system layouts when design specifications require adjustment
- Ensure install resources are optimally utilized
- Ensure all necessary materials and tools arrive to the job site
- Ensure that BOS layout, conduit and wiring runs, service disconnects, inverter installation, grid intertie, voltage testing and all BOS installation meets expected quality standards
- Deliver installation documentation in a timely manner
- Responsible for tool management and assigned vehicle
Essential Functions (Specific Tasks/Deliverables)
- Lead installation of Balance of System (BOS) layout, conduit run and wiring runs, DC & AC disconnects, inverter installation, grid intertie, and voltage testing
- Mentor PV installers in AC skill development
- Communicate with inspectors on project specifics
- Update paper and electronic customer files
- Remain physically capable of performing work
- Ensure jobsite electrical safety
- Ensure completion of JHA's on a per project basis
- Follow proper system commissioning procedures
- Properly complete commissioning report and documentation of pictures
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have a RW or Journeyman Colorado Electrical License
- Expert understanding of electrical wiring, sizing conduit, sizing wire, and bending pipe
- Expert understanding of AC & DC solar installations
- Fantastic problem solving abilities
- Comfortably able to lift 75lbs, climb ladders, and work on roof tops in varying temperatures
- Excellent teamwork skills – ability to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making
- Ability to read, understand, and edit electrical and structural plans and interpret field layouts
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with others
- Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
- Ability to succeed in a fast paced, community environment
- Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
- Proficient with computers and the following applications: Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Ability to drive company vehicles and be insured by our insurance carrier
Non essential (Valued but not required skills & experience)
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification
- Knowledge of Salesforce and Smartsheet software

Physical demands & work environment:
- Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Must be capable of performing overhead work with hand tools, power tools, and materials. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Must be able to lift and climb ladders to access roofs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Driving required to site locations
- Work environment: The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. Work environment changes from day to day at project work sites and installation on roofs of all pitches. High and potentially dangerous exposure to electricity. The daily temperature varies from hot to cold depending on the season.
