Job Summary:The Resource Teacher II is responsible for leading a Head Start classroom of 3–4-year-old children. Theposition works collaboratively with an assistant teacher, family members and other staff to achieve positiveoutcomes for children of all abilities. The Preschool Resource Teacher II position is typically designated ina smaller center in a double session classroom.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provides classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, culturally and ageappropriate for the children served. Provides a print rich environment in which children develop literacy, numeracy and social skillsusing increasingly complex language and problem-solving abilities. Implements daily lesson plans in response to children’s needs and interests incorporatingobservations, anecdotal record keeping, knowledge of early childhood development and the keyexperiences. Integrates Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities. Provides children with a consistent classroom routine. Provides supervision and ensures the safety and security of children at all times in accordance withHead Start and day care licensing requirements. Provides peer coaching to other teachers, assistant teachers, floaters, and substitute teachers. Models exemplary classroom practices for other teachers especially those detailed in the TSR andCLASS Plans and facilitates PLCs under the guidance of the Center Director. Practices (as outlined in the TSR): CLASS teacher-child interactions learning environment,curriculum, child assessment, meeting all children’s needs, working with families, professionalgrowth and collaboration. Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive socialinteraction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in alldomains for children of all abilities. Addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine possible causes of the behavior,implementing preventive measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills andpartnering with families to support the child at home. Uses observations of children and anecdotal notes to document children’s progress andindividualize curriculum. Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, andhome.
Resource Teacher II 2 Supervises and eats nutritionally prepared meals with the children as a curriculum activity, to modelgood nutrition and proper social skills for preschool children. Supervise all classroom field trips andoutdoor activities. Supervises all classroom field trips and outdoor activities. Conducts daily health checks. Assesses children on an on-going basis, which includes gathering and organizing anecdotal notesinto the key domains and document for Creative Curriculum through creativecurriculum.net. Analyzes child outcomes on classroom basis twice yearly, consults with education coordinator andmakes adjustments to curriculum planning and implementation as needed. Provides opportunities for parents to increase their child observation skills and to shareassessments with staff that help plan the learning experiences. Encourages parent participation in staff-parent conferences and home visits discussing their child’sdevelopment and education. Completes two home visits per year and at least two parent-teacher conferences per year. Writes classroom update every month for parents and provides center news for the programnewsletter as requested. Gathers and maintains individual, family and classroom data for documentation, on-goingassessment, evaluation, and recording keeping for successful individual and program planning. Monitors volunteers, substitutes, during classroom operations. Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.Non-Essential Duties: Assists in on-boarding new staff. Performs any and all other duties (or functions) as assigned.Job Specifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty in a satisfactorymanner. BA/BS in Early Childhood Education preferred OR AA/AS in Early Childhood Education ORBA/BS in related field.2. Required at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education plus experience teaching preschoolaged children.3. Must have or obtain certification in CPR/First Aid, and Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) within six(6) months of hire.4. Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.5. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.6. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings andfunctions.7. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of Acelero Learning's School Readiness Goals. Ability to understand regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury,including the exercise of universal precautions and the prevention of contamination. Ability to have an average TSR score of Refining (4 or better without rounding) and a verbalcommitment to continue working for Acelero Learning; ability to provide a model classroom in atleast one area of the TSR. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Demonstrated computer literacy skills, especially using Google Suite apps; spreadsheets,basic data management systems and internet navigation. Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Resource Teacher II 3Physical Requirements: Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching. Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically. Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing. Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures,accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading). Ability to receive and respond to oral communication. Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects orchildren.Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment. Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: preschoolactivities, light to moderate traffic, human voices). Standard office equipment generally used includes:o Telephoneo Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) or Tableto Printer/Photocopy Machineo Calculatoro Fax Machine May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties.
