Description:6:30a - 5p / Full Time / 40 Hours
The Respiratory Care Equipment Tech is primarily responsible to provide in an expedient manner, properly functioning respiratory care equipment by disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, performing preventive maintenance on select equipment and verifying operational readiness. The incumbent organizes, monitors and maintains appropriate supply inventories; maintains inventory for all Respiratory Care equipment and supplies; assures adequate stock; orders and receives equipment and supplies; dispenses and monitors the use of Respiratory Care equipment and supplies. Processes all supplies for the department to assure equipment needs are met. Disinfects equipment. Repacks processed equipment according to departmental guidelines. Maintains and replaces portable cylinders, hand trucks/stands and regulators in clinical and stock areas following departmental guidelines. Reorganizes small par stock.
Transport supplies to Central Supply to be gas stabilized and picked up to assure processing on time. Reprocesses post sterilization equipment. Transports equipment and supplies to and from the Respiratory Department following departmental guidelines. Socks and organizes supplies in storage areas. Answers requests for equipment.
Additionally, adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Following hospital policies and procedures. Following departmental policies and procedures. Contributing to the overall quality of services. Assuming responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Practicing infection control measures and principles.
May perform EKG tech duties as needed. May perform basic acute care therapy if enrolled in the last year of clinical externship from an accredited respiratory program and under supervision of assigned RCP.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
- ACLS and/or NRP may be required in designated departments.
