Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, our TH Respiratory Therapist are a valuable member of our team, Respiratory Care is an allied health specialty concerned with the performance of diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluation and respiratory therapy treatment applied to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. It includes related education of the patient, family and public.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent intrapersonal skills and time management skills. They should have attention to detail and be able to work with all levels of the organization.
Brief Description of Duties:
- All Respiratory Care Practitioners work under the supervision of the Director and/or the Associate Director(s) of the Department and are responsible for performing various basic and advanced respiratory procedures that include, although are not limited to, the following: Intubation, arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, mechanical ventilator management of adult, pediatric and neonatal patients in the following areas: Surgical, Medical, Burn, Pediatric, Neonatal, Cardiac Surgery and Anesthesia Post-Op Intensive Care Units. Incumbent will perform other pertinent respiratory therapy and patient care duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications : Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy. Certificate of completion from an approved therapist level Respiratory Therapy Program. Registered Respiratory Therapist. 0-1 year experience. Current NYS Therapist License which is required under NYS Law.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services (The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination), submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
