Your Job Summary
The Infusion and Respiratory Specialist (IRS) will lead infusion administration and respiratory therapy trainings and treatments across skilled nursing facilities to improve quality patient care. The IRS is responsible for documenting, auditing, and monitoring records for care provided to ensure quality and compliance. This position will also coordinate services with physicians, interdisciplinary team, labs and other entities participating in patients' care.
Your Responsibilties
· Receives orders from physicians and completes pre-assessment checklist.
· Administers intravenous therapeutic treatments as directed by a Physician.
· Observes patients’ IV treatment and records observations in patient medical records.
· Travels to six (6) skilled nursing facilities in the course of the month, at least two times monthly to: accept patient IV care, explains procedures, checks vital signs and administers therapy, monitors reactions, documents in clinical record of administration and reports to physicians.
· Deal with emergency situations (with outside assistance) if required.
· Maintains records in PCC EMR for physicians and care of coordination purposes.
· Audits clinical notes of SNF post IV therapy administration x3 days for compliance and coordinate areas of opportunity with each facilities Director of Nursing.
· Attends weekly meetings at each SNF to provide clinical expertise with IV and respiratory therapies.
· Train SNF staff in respiratory competency, audit staff trainings quarterly, and ensure excellence in standards of care at each SNF.
· Conducts and educates on pulmonary function tests, assessing and interpreting evaluations, and providing respiratory treatments per physicians’ orders.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Educate physicians and clinical staff on protocols and at-risk patients.
· Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
Education and Experience:
· RN with state license required.
· Clinical experience and competency that includes training in infusion therapy.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
