Certs (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP?) RRT or is CRT acceptable? RRT Required "BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
Must have RRT to be considered"
Types of patients (adults, peds, and neonates?)
What areas do they cover (Inpatient, Outpatient, ER, Rehab, Sleep Lab, etc.) Will cover all areas of hospital. ICU/NICU not as much but can work towards that. Primarily ER, tele, etc. Do have some pediatrics.
Experience or 'Must have' skills 1-2 years' experience as RT required. Need to be able to draw & analyze ABGs
Job Duties (ie: Do RTs draw ABGs, perform EKGs, etc.)
Are RTs Required to be able to Intubate Independently or only to assist?
Respiratory Manager/Supervisor/Lead Therapist?
Shifts & Scheduling (*Would they ever be the only RT in-house?) "12Hr shifts; 630AM-7PM, 630PM-7AM, will rotate call-offs if census is low.
Self-scheduling, made out 3-4 weeks in advance."
Weekend Requirement Every other
Holiday Requirement One of winter holiday required
Call or standby call requirement? None required, may call when need extra help on some occasions
What is call response time N/A
Floating Requirements Will cover all areas of hospital. ICU/NICU not as much but can work towards that. Primarily ER, tele, etc. Do have some pediatrics.
Scrub Color/Dress Code Scrubs provided
RT Equipment (Brand for Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow) Cervo I vents
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
Department Specific Orientation 3 - 12Hr shifts of orientation - enough time to get familiar with protocols including vent weaning, trachs, etc.
Additional Notes Want travelers that are able to jump in quickly & have a solid foundation to clinical skills. New travelers welcomed as long as they have strong skills. RTs are given a lot of autonomy to assess & treat & start own protocol. Very teamwork oriented.
