Job Description: Respiratory Therapist

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a qualified Respiratory Therapist to join our team at a regional Cancer Center in Zion, IL.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients in a cancer center setting. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including ventilator management, EKGs, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, and other specialized procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer all offered respiratory therapies as prescribed
• Manage ventilator patients and equipment
• Perform EKGs, pulse oximetry, and Holter monitoring
• Conduct pulmonary function tests and special procedures under the direction of a pulmonologist
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment and supplies
• Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic medical records
• Perform clerical duties such as data entry, charge input, and filing
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Illinois Respiratory Therapy License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum of 3 years of critical care or ICU experience preferred
• National Certification (RRT) preferred
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (36 hours per week)
• One weekend call requirement (24-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday)
