Department: Lifestyle Management Services Lifestyle Management Services - Clinical Coordinator for Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
Its an outpatient setting - working with patients with respiratory diseases, one on one evaluations as well as groups classes and case management.
Its a close knit team with Cardiac rehab and Diabetic management and Medical Nutrition Therapy - a 14 person department called Lifestyle management closely located with the hospital.
# treatments per day: On Mondays and Wednesdays, this role includes conducting initial assessments, performing 6-minute walk tests, providing Aerobika training if scheduled, and handling case management duties. Tuesdays and Thursdays are dedicated Pulmonary Rehab days, where patients participate in one hour of education followed by one hour of exercise training. The RT will also assist in the patient gym in the afternoons as needed and perform case management responsibilities specifically for Pulmonary Rehabilitation patients.
Certs (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP?) RRT or is CRT acceptable? CA RRT license, BLS, ACLS
Types of patients (adults, peds, and neonates?) Adults
What areas do they cover (Inpatient, Outpatient, ER, Rehab, Sleep Lab, etc.): Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Proven clinical competence in managing pulmonary disease, case management, exercise training, and physiology, specifically for pulmonary patients. Effective teaching skills for both individual and group settings, along with strong communication and behavior modification abilities. Proficiency in computer applications, including ScottCare, Google Workspace, Cerner, and PowerPoint.
Job Duties (ie: Do RTs draw ABGs, perform EKGs, etc.) Responsible for managing all aspects of the pulmonary program from initial assessment through discharge, including recording patient outcomes. Develops, oversees, and implements comprehensive case management and treatment plans for pulmonary and asthma patients based on assessments, following AACVPR guidelines. Duties include conducting patient assessments, 6-minute walk tests, case management, behavior modification, education, exercise prescription, training, and progression. Provides oxygen therapy and monitoring, ensures accurate billing, and manages follow-up for all pulmonary clients. Accurately assesses and documents the status of pulmonary clients on the appropriate forms.
Are RTs Required to be able to Intubate Independently or only to assist? N/A
Respiratory Manager/Supervisor/Lead Therapist? RT will perform as the Clinical Coordinator for Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Our hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and this would be the designated shift for the position. While in the gym, the RT will collaborate with a nurse and an exercise physiologist.
*Would they ever be the only RT in-house?* Yes, they would be the only RT. While in the gym, the RT will collaborate with a Registered Nurse and a Certified Exercise Physiologist.
Weekend Requirements No - we are closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
