Job Description: Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Respiratory Therapy
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104
Shift: Night Shift (1900 - 07:30)
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our team on a 13-week contract basis. As an RT, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Administer and monitor respiratory therapy treatments, including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and airway management.
- Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including evaluating lung function and interpreting diagnostic tests to develop effective treatment plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment progress, responses to therapy, and any changes in condition.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal respiratory outcomes.
- Emergency Response: Provide emergency respiratory care as needed and respond to critical situations with appropriate interventions.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care instructions.
- Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning correctly and safely.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- Licensure: Valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred, with a focus on critical care and emergency respiratory therapy.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency in respiratory equipment, and the ability to handle complex patient cases. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
- Capability to work long hours, including standing and walking during shifts.
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations and perform under pressure.
