About the Job
We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Part-Time Retail Clerk to join our team at a local butcher store. As a Retail Clerk, you will play a key role in assisting customers, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with customers, have a passion for locally raised meat, and are looking for a flexible part-time opportunity.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products.
- Provide knowledgeable answers to questions regarding cuts of meat, cooking methods, and meal preparation.
- Offer suggestions and recommendations based on customer preferences.
- Operate cash register and handle transactions accurately.
- Package and weigh meat products for customers according to their specifications.
- Upsell additional products or specials as appropriate.
- Receive and stock inventory, ensuring shelves and displays are neatly organized.
- Rotate products to maintain freshness and appeal.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs to management.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the store, including counters, display cases, and customer areas.
- Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist in maintaining equipment such as scales, knives, and refrigeration units.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve store goals.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding customer feedback, operational issues, and ideas for improvement.
- Support colleagues during busy periods or as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge or interest in meat products and cuts is a plus.
- Passion for locally raised meat and understanding of its benefits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Starting pay is $12 an hour, based on experience.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy weights (up to 50 pounds) occasionally.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Handle sharp knives and operate equipment safely.
