Retail Supervisor, Driver & Warehouse Operations - Barnes & Noble Education, Inc.

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a resourceful, driven, adaptable, and customer-focused team member to work every week, year round for at least 30 hours each week as a full-time Supervisor. The Supervisor will provide assistance to the management team, have oversight for booksellers within a specific department, satellite location, or store in the absence of upper management while providing outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community.

As a Supervisor you will spend the majority of your time on the sales floor coaching and modeling Wow customer service.  You will help train and oversee the daily work activity of booksellers in one or more departments in the store or for specified operational functions.  You must be knowledgeable about department and store operations; provide outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community; help enforce loss prevention procedures; and ensure that your area of responsibility is maintained, properly merchandised and the store is operationally sound.

Expectations:

• Examine shipments and compare with records, such as invoices or orders, to verify accuracy.
• Ensure all incoming and outgoing online orders and returns are handled promptly and tracked thoroughly.
• Record shipment data, determine space requirements and position of shipments, manage damage, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record keeping purposes.
• Serve as a resource for select special-order-only merchandise, to ensure prompt and accurate processing for these orders.
• Assist in the fulfillment of customers’ online orders, resolve customer service questions relating to online order issues, and escalate problems to the management team when necessary.
• Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
• Correspond with established representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, or shortages.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
• Assist with the maintenance of the website catalog.
• Use hand tools, power tools, online shipping services, or postage meters.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all departments in the store to provide daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members and to serve as the Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the manager or at satellite locations. 
• Assist with assigning work and providing focused direction to booksellers to manage and accomplish multiple projects to ensure the proper execution of the workload.
• May process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Full-time positions require availability to work at least 30 hours on a weekly basis year round.  Schedules may be set or vary to meet the needs of the store.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

New York Pay Transparency Information (Only applicable in New York State stores):

Pay: Full-time Shipping & Receiving Supervisor & Web pay range $17.00/hour.

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting or in e-commerce preferred.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.
• High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
• Intermediate reading, writing, accounting, and computer skills required.
• Experience with online ordering systems preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
