About the Job
The Retiree Services Specialist will provide comprehensive support and resources for military retirees and their families. This role involves assisting retirees with accessing benefits, entitlements, and programs available to them, ensuring they have the information and support needed for a successful transition into retirement.
Experience: • Minimum of 3 years of experience in military personnel administration, benefits counseling, or related fields. • Knowledge of military retirement benefits and resources is preferred.
Education: • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
Clearance: • Must be able to pass a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries) background check.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and assistance to military retirees regarding their benefits, entitlements, and available resources.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions to address the specific needs and concerns of retirees and their families, ensuring they understand their benefits and entitlements.
- Organize and conduct workshops and seminars on topics related to retirement benefits, healthcare options, and transition services.
- Develop educational materials and resources, such as brochures and guides, to inform retirees about available services and how to access them.
- Collaborate with military departments, veteran organizations, and external agencies to facilitate access to retiree services and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided to retirees, including tracking inquiries, services rendered, and follow-up actions to ensure a high level of support.
- Monitor retiree satisfaction with the services provided and collect feedback to improve service delivery.
- Prepare reports on retiree statistics, trends, and program effectiveness for management review, highlighting areas for improvement or additional support needed.
- Stay informed about updates to military policies and procedures regarding retiree services to ensure compliance and accurate information dissemination.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in the delivery of retiree services, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Advocate for retirees' needs within the military community, representing their interests in meetings and discussions with military leadership.
- Facilitate communication between retirees and military leadership, ensuring that retirees are informed about changes in policies or programs that affect them.
- Assist retirees in navigating healthcare options, including TRICARE and other medical benefits, ensuring they understand enrollment processes and eligibility.
- Provide support for financial literacy, helping retirees understand their retirement pay, pensions, and any other financial resources available to them.
- Coordinate with local community organizations and resources to connect retirees with additional support services, such as housing, employment, or educational opportunities.
- Organize community outreach events and programs to promote available resources and engage with the retiree population, fostering a sense of community among retirees.
- Train and support new staff members in retiree services policies and procedures, ensuring a knowledgeable and capable team.
- Stay engaged with professional development opportunities related to retiree services, attending workshops and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
