Description
Responsible for failure analysis on returned or newly produced assigned products. Identifies problems or trends in manufacturing, production, application, and installations and reports the results to management.
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Logs, analyzes, and verifies all faulty products returned from customers and other company facilities.
- Processes warranty claims and RMA reports that have been assigned and are listed in the field service data.
- Builds assigned prototypes and dummy display products for use in tradeshows or customer exhibits.
- Provides technical assistance and training to in-house employees and field service engineers as requested.
- Performs customer analysis teardowns and demonstrations for customers requesting a visual in-plant observation.
- Provides technical assistance with testing and/or actual hands-on testing.
- Produces and provides failure analysis reports to the production engineering management so that management can forward them to product engineering and marketing on a weekly basis.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Attends all training as required to enhance the ability to provide accurate reporting.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

- Writes routine reports and correspondence.
- Effectively presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers and customers.
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
- Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Mechanical skills- safe use of hand tools, power tools (saws and other power tools)
- Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
- Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.
- Uses noncomplex machines and equipment, computer, calculators, copy/fax machines, etc.).
Education and Experience
- Equivalent of four years of high school (required).
- Associate’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Zero to three years of relevant education or experience in design technology, mechanical technology, manufacturing processes, or a related field (required).
Computer Skills
- Basic: Microsoft Office suite. Franklin Electric Warranty System

- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to stand or walk.
