SUMMARY: The Revenue Cycle Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the revenue cycle operations. This includes ensuring accurate and timely billing, coding, collections, and payment processing. The manager will work to optimize revenue cycle processes, reduce bad debt and efficiently maximize revenue.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Billing and Coding:
- Oversee the medical billing and coding process to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Monitor changes in healthcare regulations and payer requirements to update billing practices accordingly.
Collections and Accounts Receivable:
- Manage the collections process to ensure timely and efficient collection of payments.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce accounts receivable days.
Denials Management:
- Analyze and manage claim denials to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Work with insurance companies to resolve denied or underpaid claims.
- Ensure patient billing inquiries are addressed promptly and effectively.
Reporting and Analysis:
Generate and analyze revenue cycle reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Provide regular updates to senior management on revenue cycle metrics and financial performance.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to billing and collections.
Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure data integrity.
Team Management:
Supervise and train revenue cycle staff, providing guidance and support to improve efficiency and productivity.
Conduct performance evaluations and manage staffing levels to meet operational needs.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to streamline revenue cycle operations.
Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall financial performance and patient experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have direct reports. All employees within the billing department will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager. The Revenue Cycle Manager will have a strong understanding of the companies’ policies and enforce them. The Revenue Cycle Manager will also complete all supervisory tasks including but not limited to schedule, schedule changes, timecards, performance reviews, coaching, disciplining, and initial/ongoing training with all staff in the department. This person will also approve time off requests and hold biweekly meetings. This person will report directly to the Controller for prompt necessary action.
QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
At least 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management or a related field.
Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, and collections processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in revenue cycle management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS guidelines).
