The Ride Maintenance Technician I position is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance for all designated rides.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance for individual or groups of attractions rides and other equipment typically utilized in theme park attractions including but not limited to: troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, systems animation and special effects
- Inspections include testing, verification and/or calibration of applicable mechanical systems
- Respond to downtime, repair and ride recovery issues
- Diagnose system failures and provide immediate correction actions. Research defective mechanically-controlled items/parts and instructional information to complete the repair process when needed
- Troubleshoot by referring to technical manuals and technical library while utilizing a systematic approach
- Assist in assembly and disassembly for annual inspections and ensure verification of quality control/NDT requirements have been met
- Input in log books: completion of inspections, corrective action and/or repairs made, and lists applicable parts used
- Support Ride Maintenance Technician II or III on modifications to ride vehicles or show equipment
- Learn and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Dollywood policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities
- Consistently practice safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, safe lifting practices and reporting of unsafe situations.
- Keep all records up to date and current in an accessible, organized fashion. (i.e. logbooks, inspection forms, etc.)
- Ensure that the ride is clean and visually in compliance with manufacturer’s specifications, guest and Dollywood expectations
- Obtain knowledge and understanding of ride parts inventory for assigned area
- Notify the Foreman or Supervisor of any materials necessary to ensure safe, continuous operation
- Clean maintenance shop, stations, equipment, and tools
- Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
- Ability to smile and make eye contact to make a friendly impression when greeting guests, vendors and other employees
- Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties
- Must be clean shaven to be able to use respirator
- Ability to get along with other employees to work out problems and resolve conflicts
- Ability to comprehend instructions and retain information.
- Ability to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities
- Ability to tolerate a year round outdoor environment, with temperatures from 0 to 120 degrees
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to analyze and remember information
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to perform these operations using units of the Metric system in weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to tolerate approved exposure levels to various chemicals found in cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, and lubricants
- Tasks involve the regular and at times sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. This typically involves some combination of balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Tasks may also involve the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 50 pounds) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 100 pounds)
- Must possess the mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the primary job duties, including climbing and working at heights up to and in excess of 150ft., crawling, and working in confined spaces
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual may be regularly expected to work near moving mechanical parts. Risk of electrical shock; and/or vibration.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as electric drill, drill press, side grinder, porta-band, reciprocating saw, electric hoist, chain saw, band saw, jig saw, torque wrench, and impact wrench
- Must possess strong safety sensitivity and ability to work with many different types of mechanical devices
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement
Education and Experience Required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school degree or GED is required
- Experience in the theme park industry is preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of the proper utilization and care of hand and power tools and maintenance equipment
- Working knowledge and experience with dial indicators, inside and outside micrometers and dial calipers is preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance is required for use of company vehicles
- Ability to read/write, comprehend instructions and communicate in English
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check
