POSITION SUMMARY
Operates vehicles and equipment to assist line crews in the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines by clearing and maintaining rights-of-way.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Right of Way and Easement Superintendent, ROW Crew Chief, Right of Way Coordinator, Heavy Equipment Operator and Bucket Lead.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cuts brush and maintains existing right-of-way as required or directed.
- Maintains and cares for tools, equipment and material assigned to vehicles. Loads and unloads trucks.
- Operates certain types of vehicles and associated equipment. Complies with all traffic laws, safety rules, regulations, and practices.
- Reports any unsafe conditions on distribution lines.

EXTERNAL CONTACTS
Consumer-Members: Courteously answers member inquiries and, if unable to do so, directs them to the appropriate person, making every effort to increase their understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative's plans, policies, and programs.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education, Job Knowledge and Training: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; one to three months related experience preferred.
Equipment Operated: Must be able to operate assigned equipment including trucks, bush hog, chain saw, chipper, etc. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license without violations that would prohibit insurability.
Abilities and Skills: Must be able to learn and apply information from technical manuals in the completion of duties. Must be able to complete reports and other paperwork and perform mathematical calculations. Must become familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code and cooperative safety procedures and handling hazardous chemicals. Must be able to deal with a variety of people in varying situations with tact and diplomacy.
Physical Effort: Must be able to perform all activities listed in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds. Occasionally lifts and moves up to 100 pounds. Trims trees, works around noisy equipment, and visually inspects work for safe conditions.
Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to all kinds of weather conditions. Irregular hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Some overtime may be required. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and loud noise levels. Occasionally exposed to vibration.
