Job DescriptionResponsible for the identification and reporting of risks associated with Energy Supply strategies to manage resources and transactions that result in increased market presence and value. Assists in maintaining risk management systems and data. Prepares and analyzes daily risk management reports, works closely with energy traders and marketers to incorporate short-term market risks into risk management strategy. Works with management on reviewing and analyzing the portfolio strategy and associated risks. Identifies industry, market, regulatory, and other changes requiring business process and system changes in support of risk management, credit and related business operations. Proposes and advocates for adoption of solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Completes daily physical and financial position reports for marketers and management. Ensures proper valuation and reporting of all products in the risk management system.
+ Utilizes appropriate strategies to analyze price, commodity, and basis risk. Coordinates and provides financial risk knowledge, advice to other groups as needed. Maintains relationships with external counterparties.
+ Provides support to other risk management system users. Perform daily review and investigative processes to ensure accuracy, integrity and validity of system data and inputs.
+ Follows movement in forward market prices, price volatility, and liquidity. Monitors and reports physical commodity positions and financial exposure relative to company authorized limits.
+ Provides support for daily credit functions, such as margin calls and other credit and wholesale contract functions.
+ Provides information on contract terms and conditions, exposure by counter-party, and related information. Coordinates authorizations for trades with counter-parties and monitors credit limits.
+ Develop and utilize spreadsheets, scenarios and other analysis tools to assist in risk management activities management and to prepare recurring and special purpose reports.
+ Supports the Credit function. Plans and manages projects to implement solutions for business process change and business process improvement.
+ Develop and implement appropriate strategies to analyze price, commodity, and basis risk. Assists in coordinating and provides financial risk knowledge, advice and direction to other groups as needed. Maintains relationships with external counterparties.
+ Assists in directing the development and implementation of electronic resources to support analysis of risks for power supply, gas supply, transmission, treasury, credit and resource accounting. Coordinates enhancements and maintains the electronic data capture of wholesale operations and transactions (i.e. risk management and other business systems); provides oversight for daily updates of forward price curves and market volatility.
+ Develop and implement appropriate strategies to analyze price, commodity, and basis risk. Assists in coordinating and provides financial risk knowledge, advice and direction to other groups as needed. Maintains relationships with external counterparties.
Requirements
+ BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics.
+ Working knowledge of the fundamental theories, principles and terminology of quantitative analysis, commodity trading, electronic systems, accounting, financial analysis, statistical methods, and utility operations.
+ A background in statistical analysis, market risk and financial risk analysis, electronic systems development, correlation and regression analysis, commodity option sensitivity analysis and concepts such as Value at Risk (VaR) preferred.
+ Ability to work independently under general supervision.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Analyst I:
+ Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience required.
Analyst II:
+ Minimum of 3-4 years of related experience required.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
