The Office of Document Governance (ODG) is a firmwide function within the Risk Management & Compliance organization. ODG establishes governance frameworks and requirements for policy, standard, and procedure management; monitors document management trends and measures performance against document governance requirements; provides technology design and solutions for policy, standard and procedure management globally. ODG partners with all Lines of Business (LOBs), Corporate Functions (CFs) to drive governance and support the firm's business strategy and controls.
As a Risk Management - Head of the Office of Document Governance - Executive Director, you will report directly to the Head of the Office (ODG) of Regulation and Document Governance. The Head of ODG is a senior leadership role that is pivotal in shaping the governance framework for the firm's policies, standards, and procedures. Situated within Risk Management & Compliance, the position commands a firmwide mandate, collaborating seamlessly with all Lines of Business (LOBs) and Corporate Functions (CFs). The firm is seeking a highly effective and innovative ED who will provide thought leadership, strategic vision, unyielding execution, seamless program management, and team leadership to lead the ODG platform. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and self-driven manager and has successfully developed and implemented Firmwide global programs for large-scale initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Refine and drive ODG's overarching innovation strategy, including integrating AI/LLM technologies for document lifecycle management and connecting with other systems within the control ecosystem.
- Develop strategic vision for the Firmwide Policy & Standard Portal, an enterprise-wide, high-traffic technology product accessible to all employees.
- Guide technology platform maintenance and enhancements, delivering tangible benefits to lines of business and corporate functions globally.
- Influence stakeholders to align with platform roadmap and objectives.
- Lead the strategic oversight and maintenance of the Policy and Standard on the firm's Policy, Standards, and Procedures.
- Provide critical insights and feedback on governance document content, establishing firmwide expectations for document creation, classification, and updates.
- Engage in senior-level control forums, collaborating with departments such as Legal, Control Management, and Enterprise Technology.
- Define roles and responsibilities for document owners and managers, ensuring effective socialization and publication.
- Lead the development and execution of monitoring and reporting frameworks to support LOB/CF document lifecycle management.
- Establish metrics to monitor performance against document governance requirements
- Establish Firmwide document governance controls and provide oversight with a focus on future enhancements.
Required qualifications, skills and capabilities
- Bachelor's degree required
- 15 plus years of experience in Risk, Compliance, Legal, or similar Control Management-related function managing large scale programs and initiatives within a financial services firm, regulatory organization, legal or consulting firm
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders across the firm with knowledge of the financial industry.
- Highly skilled in conveying ideas clearly and effectively to stakeholders with diverse interests through both verbal and written communication. Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and distill high-level themes from granular information
- Exceptional writing and communication skills in concise management presentation formats as well as detailed narrative form
- Strong logical and analytical skills with a creative passion for developing and expressing best-in-class ideas
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently to produce executive-level materials, analyses, presentations
- Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with varied stakeholders and audiences
- Highly adaptable interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate as part of a team and engage across different business and functional areas
- Demonstrated strength in learning quickly, synthesizing opinions and facts from multiple sources, and reasoning into next steps while maintaining thoughtful transparency with peers and management
- Ability to work well under pressure and deliver under tight deadlines. Prior experience in managing a team. Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities
- A legal degree or background is preferred.
- Experience with data analytics/visualization tools a plus
