Summary:
Develops, implements, and coordinates risk management activities for Memorial Healthcare System.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate reporting of patient care-related incidents to the Agency for Healthcare Administration, Department of Health and FDA as required by law. Submits required reports to state and federal agencies. Conducts Root Cause Analysis as needed and development of corrective action plans.
Conducts risk management educational programs to employees and medical staff to enhance safety awareness.
Collects and assesses data to identify potential or actual sources of risk to patients and employees.
Collaborates with all staff and applicable committees with respect to risk-related incidents, claims, litigation, policies, and practices. Assists with the initial response, investigation and handling of patient and employee claims. Assist in investigation of potentially compensable events and asserted claims (as requested).
Takes on-call responsibilities at the discretion of the Corporate Director of Risk Management.
Develops, implements, and evaluates practices and policies to ensure patient safety, employee safety and quality of care.
Develops or facilitates patient safety, employee safety, and quality of care initiatives and formulates and implements risk reduction strategies.

Participates on committees directed towards promoting patient safety issues. Conducts risk management educational programs to employees and medical staff to enhance safety awareness. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and a basic understanding of relational data bases. Professional knowledge of Risk Management Program design and operations and a working knowledge of governmental and Joint Commission regulations. Required Work Experience: Three (3) years of hospital related clinical experience with relevant Risk Management related experience required. Other Information: Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.Additional Education Info: or in business related program.
