Charge Nurse RN--Dialysis
Reporting Relationship: Dialysis Nurse Manager
The Dialysis Charge RN provides care and support for patients suffering from End Stage Renal Disease/Chronic renal failure. Under the direction of the Dialysis Manager and Medical Director, the Charge RN is responsible for the clinical management of the Dialysis unit and the supervision of all nursing personnel in order to ensure safe, efficient hemodialysis treatment for all patients.
POSITION SUMMARY
The RN strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act and BBGH policies. The RN ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for their area of practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done, in part, through participation in performance improvement initiatives. The RN provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes.
Patient-centered care coordination is a core professional standard and competency for all registered nursing practices. Based on a partnership guided by the healthcare consumer's and family's needs and preferences, the registered nurse is integral to patient care quality, satisfaction, and the effective and efficient use of health care resources. Registered nurses are qualified and educated for the role of care coordination, especially with high risk and vulnerable populations (ANA Code of Ethics with Interpretive Statements, 11/2010).
The RN has a responsibility to act as an educator to its peers, patients, and their families. All aspects of the RN's performance support service excellence and a healing environment. The RN identifies and communicates needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budgets.
Because of the importance of the licensed position, a 30-day notice is required when an employee terminates employment.
Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Experience: Six months recent acute experience as a R.N.
License/Certifications:
Required: Current R.N. license from the State of Nebraska, ACLS, BLS
Must be able to work shifts during the day, weekends, and holidays.
