Position Summary
In the role of a clinical practitioner, educator and consultant; develop and implement nursing techniques designed to improve patient care. Makes decisions related to staff development based on identified needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and evaluate a continuing orientation and teaching program for all assigned service personnel.
- Adopt the general staff education orientation program to respective Patient Care Services Orientation.
- Provides input to modify unit orientation and expectations according to unit needs and hospital accreditations, if applicable.
- Identify individual learning needs in collaboration with each staff member and provide continuing education program to meet these needs.
- Provide staff with the information concerning pertinent conferences and programs to meet educational needs to foster staff participation.
- Guide and support individual staff members in adjusting to respective unit expectations.
- Provides direct and/or indirect care to a specialized caseload of patients.
- Consults with nursing staff to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans for particular patients and families.
- Potentially serves as a participating member of committees to assist in establishment of guidelines and delineating standards of nursing practice.
Education/Experience
- Currently licensed as a RN by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
- OB experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, with at least required with at least 2 years nursing experience.
- Maintains current CPR, Instructor status preferred.
- Demonstrates leadership potential through the capacity for independent discriminative and creative, evidence-based thought, judgement and action.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other nurse clinicians, staff nurses, and other educational personnel and resource personnel.
- Candidate must be enthusiastic, organized, team centered attitude, ability to motivate others, and prioritize work needs.
- Demonstrates mid-level understanding of Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook Calendar, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), EPIC software applications and Learning Management Systems.
- Possesses above average presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Car and current Indiana State driver’s license required.
