Job Summary:
The RN performs under the direction of the Patient Care Coordinator. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation as evidenced by documentation in Patient Care Record, direct observation by Patient Care Coordinator and patient evaluations of care. The RN is responsible for patient care accountable to the Patient Care Coordinator and ultimately accountable to the Director of Nursing. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
Performance Expectations:
- Properly utilize the equipment you are assigned including but not limited to telemetry monitors, wound vac, IV infusion pumps, accucheck and defibrillator.
- Move equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient.
- Complete thorough physical assessment of patients and report any identified decline in change of status to the supervisor and provider on duty.
- Complete accurate use of a central line and the care, IV insertion/care and blood transfusions.
- Always respect and maintain confidentiality and dignity of the patient by utilizing the We C.A.R.E philosophy.
- Communicate and interact with care providers and team members, patients/families and visitors utilizing the We C.A.R.E philosophy. Provide patient care with excellent professionalism. Safely maintain the sterile field as needed.
- Identify patients and complete barcode scanning and medication administration accurately.
- Verify patient orders and perform said orders.
- Accurately enter provider generated orders the Electronic Health Record.
- Monitor supply levels and order supplies accordingly.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens to Lab in a timely manner.
- Prioritize workload while completing multi-task.
- Utilize the EMR for the provision of patient care.
- Educate the patient and family on diagnosis, care being provided, and medications.
- Supervise and delegate patient care task to team members including nurse aid, volunteers, and ancillary department staff.
- Complete walking rounds with oncoming shift and include the patient and family in report.
- Demonstrates ability to care for the critically ill patient in all aspects of their necessary nursing care.
- Perform excellent documentation with concise details of clinical condition of the patient and organization skills.
- Functions effectively in emergency situations, demonstrating knowledge of the ACLS algorithms and critical care medications.
- Maintain Isolation Procedures as ordered
- Perform Hand Hygiene with 100 percent compliance.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required., ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Work Experience:
One year Intensive Care nursing experience preferred and one year medical/surgical nursing care.
