About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years **License:** Yes **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC **Must-Have:** Level II Trauma experience required (Level I Trauma experience is a plus) **Job Description:** - Work in a 30-bed Emergency Department with 5 trauma bays. - Handle a patient ratio of 1:4. - Utilize the Cerner EMR system for charting. - Provide bedside report at shift start (6:45 PM). - Participate in self-scheduling, with finalization by the manager. - Engage in floor-specific orientation lasting 1-2 days with a preceptor. - Interpret EKG strips and manage ventilators. - Collaborate with in-house hospitalists or intensivists. - Operate in a facility with 24/7 RT and pharmacy services. - Wear navy scrubs with optional navy scrub jackets; under shirts may be navy, white, or black. - Be prepared for potential mid-shift floating to other facilities (rare). - Recognize common diagnoses and types of patients, including trauma and psych holds. - Work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) as scheduled. **Additional Notes:** - Charge nurses are available for support, generally do not take patients but provide break relief. - Nurse aides are available depending on census and staffing. - Participate in every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage with core staff. - Complete required modules prior to starting (3-4 hours, not billable). - A dysrhythmia exam must be completed prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed.
