JOB SUMMARY
- Hospice Registered Nurses provide professional nursing care for terminally ill patients to maintain their comfort and quality of life. A hospice nurse serves as a case manager and advocate for their patients and primary caregivers. This includes: keen observation skills, high ethical standards, critical thinking skills, compassion, attention to detail, organizational skills, calm under pressure, patience, and compassionate communication skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Education
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (ADN/Diploma)
- Minimum Work Experience
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- Registered Nurse
- Current CPR
- Current Driver’s License
- Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position
- Accountable for the regulatory functions and duties of the Hospice Registered Nurse
- Deals effectively with community/consumers
- Demonstrated advocate of quality and cost effective care
- Understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families
- Must be knowledgeable of quality assessment and performance improvement activities
- Compose applicable policies and procedures
- Audit, monitor, and retrieve data
- Coordinate meetings
- Proven written and editing skills
- Strong computer skills
- Requires ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills
