Summary
Responsible for providing leadership to all nursing units in absence of department directors and/or other administrator in the following categories: Administration, Clinical, Financial and Human Resources. Responsible and accountable for the delivery of skilled, high quality patient care; for assisting in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing practice in accordance with the hospital’s philosophy of nursing goals and objectives. Responsible for providing a comprehensive, centralized and responsive system of patient admissions by using integral appropriateness criteria to the acute hospital. Identifies medical necessity for admission, coordinates placement in the proper level of care. Ensures timely implementation of physician’s treatment plan. Facilitate transfers within the facility. Coordinates the assignment of nursing staff to all nursing units (excluding Surgical Services). He/she demonstrates a high degree of critical thinking, technical skill, initiative, integrity, accuracy and nursing judgement in an interdisciplinary practice. Performs other duties as required.
