About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU **Job Specialty:** Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years of experience **License:** Required for submission **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS **Must-Have:** Ability to read and interpret EKG strips **Job Description:** - Pre-screening and auto offer for candidates with strong references, including supervisory reference. - Completion of mandatory modules before start date. Modules take 3-4 hours and are not billable. - Travelers will work two of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. - A dysrhythmia exam is required prior to acceptance; candidates have two attempts to pass. - Preferred experience in Neuro ICU settings. - Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 - 2 in a unit with 20 beds. - Use of Cerner for electronic medical records. - Charge Nurse available who generally does not take patients but assists with break relief. - Safety Attendants available as Nurse Aides. - Participate in a strong Stroke Program and Neuro Center. - Handle common diagnoses such as CVA, ICB, neurosurgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology, and ventriculostomies. - Engage in line insertions frequently. - Utilize self-scheduling system; final schedule is balanced by the manager and released 4 weeks in advance. - Floating to other facilities is required; mid-shift floating is rare. - Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor. - Wear navy scrubs, with optional navy jackets. This position involves providing high-level care in a state-of-the-art Neuro ICU, requiring strong clinical skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
