Location: Renton, WA, 98055
Department/Unit : ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
Shift 12hrs nights
# of beds: 30 all private. 2 of those are negative air flow. Ratios: Mostly 2:1C
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Medical ICU mostly, Sepsis, Respiratory Failure, Stroke TPA/thrombectomy recovery. Target temperature management. They have a cath lab in house so ICU will receive patients directly back from cath lab.
Are RNs required to titrate drips?: As prescribed, yes.
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Norepinephrine, Vasopressin, Inhalation Epoprostenol, Pressors, Sedation, etc.
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse is without patients, would not expect to take on this role. There is a house supervisor 24/7.
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: No. The unit tries to staff with 2 resource RNs in addition to the Charge RN
Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?: There is telemetry, RNs should be able to read strips. There are no Monitor techs.
Shifts & Scheduling: Shifts are 12 hour, 7-7:30. Scheduling is done on the unit level. Our assistant nurse manager is open to working with travelers to create scheduling that works for them and the unit. She is very conscientious of night shift RNs as she has worked the majority of her career on the night shift.
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Vents, Bipap, HFNC
Is there a call or standby requirement?: If a travel RN is getting low censused, there is an expectation that they are on standby for that shift.
Unit/Department specific orientation: 2-12 hour dayshifts then 1-12 hour night or dayshift dependent on the shift they are working.
This is in addition to EPIC training and organization training.
Additional Notes: All RTO needs to be submitted prior to the start of the contract. (MUST be mentioned to traveler during pre-screen).

Job Requirements
Must have active WA RN License to apply
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Holiday Requirement: Yes. If the unit has the need then the traveler RN is expected to work.
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend unless they request to work more.
Experience or 'Must have' skills: 2 years of ICU experience (This is a firm requirement.)
