About The Position
**Job Title:** ICU Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Intensive Care **Job Duration:** 52 weeks **Shift:** Day - 3x12 - 7am - 7pm **Guaranteed Hours:** N/A **Experience:** Minimum of two years of ICU experience **License:** Current, full, active, and unrestrictive license to practice as a Registered Nurse in at least one U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction **Certifications:** - Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association - Advanced Life Support (ALS) through the American Red Cross **Must-Have:** - Degree/Education: Graduate of an Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) - Ability to provide professional oversight for licensed practical nurses and unlicensed ancillary personnel **Job Description:** - Perform critical care duties, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-specific nursing care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions - Demonstrate thorough knowledge of interrelations of body systems in maintaining and restoring health - Provide labor-intensive care, including observing, assessing, and recording symptoms and progress, assisting physicians, administering medications, and completing admissions and discharges - Monitor and interpret data collected by licensed vocational nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, communicating with medical staff as appropriate - Function as a patient advocate, developing and implementing patient and family education plans - Manage patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and procedures with a high risk for infection - Communicate pertinent information to charge nurses and physicians - Develop and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and families in proper care, and support the health improvement or maintenance efforts - Administer medications using the five rights and ensure compliance with nursing scope of practice - Anticipate potential life-threatening crises and initiate life-saving measures - Operate emergency equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors - May serve as a member of a Rapid Response Team or emergency code team - Assist with management and perform invasive procedures as per scope of practice - Perform a wide array of direct patient care procedures, including daily living assistance and hygiene support - Plan and implement care in collaboration with other healthcare providers - Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and participate in quality assurance and risk management - Engage in patient care conferences, discharge planning, and staff meetings as needed - Demonstrate the ability to manage interpersonal relationships and maintain composure in stressful situations - Perform duties in accordance with standard procedures, completing additional tasks as assigned
