RN Inpatient Wound Care PRN Days Position Summary
The Inpatient Wound Care Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with wounds, ensuring they receive evidence-based treatment and continuous monitoring to promote healing. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating wound care for patients with complex needs, including but not limited to pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, and other types of skin integrity issues. The nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans, educates patients and families on wound care techniques, and advocates for the highest standards of wound management.
Special Skills Needed:
- Advanced Wound Assessment and Treatment: Proficiency in assessing various types of wounds, staging pressure ulcers, and applying advanced wound care treatments such as debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, and appropriate dressing selection.
- Infection Control Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of infection control principles, including aseptic techniques and wound culture sampling to prevent complications.
- Patient Education and Communication: Excellent communication skills for educating patients and families on wound care techniques and encouraging adherence to treatment plans.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong clinical judgment and the ability to quickly identify and respond to complications or deterioration in wound status.
- Documentation Proficiency: Skilled in maintaining accurate and timely documentation of wound assessments, care plans, and outcomes within electronic health records (EHR).
THE RN INPATIENT WOUND CARE PRN DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school
PREFERRED EDUCATION: BSN
Wound Care: Wound-Ostomy Certification or Training in Wound Care and/or Ostomy Care.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: OR: ACLS
