About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery **Job Specialty:** Obstetrics (OB) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 7P-7A, 12-hour night shifts **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years; first-time travelers accepted with at least 3 years of labor and delivery experience **Certifications:** - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring - STABLE (must complete within 30 days of starting) **Must-Have:** Experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care, as well as care for newborns **Job Description:** - Care for low-risk obstetric patients; high-risk patients are transferred - Manage Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum/Couplet cases - Handle post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers - Occasionally care for low acuity medical/surgical overflow patients needing IV antibiotics or rehabilitation - Employ a rooming-in model with no dedicated nursery nursery nurse, responsible for newborn care - Adhere to patient ratios based on AWHONN guidelines - 1:2 for laboring patients - 1:1 for active labor - 1:3-4 for couplets - 1:2-3 for medical/surgical patients - Skills in shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous administration, and intrathecal spinal analgesia - Participate in C-sections to provide neonatal care - Provide care for the newborn including vital signs, thermoregulation, managing hypoglycemia, and bilirubin babies - Unit supported by: - At least 2 nurses overnight - Midwife performing most care - OB available if needed - Charge nurse, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapist available 24/7 - Utilize the Cerner charting system - May float to medical/surgical unit or emergency department for tasks only; no patient assignments - Participate in general hospital orientation and one shift on the unit - Work every other weekend and every other holiday as part of the schedule **Additional Details:** - Professional scrub color of choice; procedural scrubs provided for the operating room only - Approval for time off needs manager consultation Please submit applications if you meet the specified requirements.
