About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery **Job Specialty:** Obstetrics **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** 7 PM - 7 AM, 12-Hour Nights **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per Week **Experience:** Minimum 2 Years (3 years LD experience if first-time traveler) **License:** Registered Nurse License **Certifications:** - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring - STABLE (must be completed within 30 days of start) **Must-Have:** Experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care, as well as care of well babies. **Job Description:** - Provide comprehensive care for patients in all stages of labor, delivery, and postpartum. - Manage low-risk pregnancies; high-risk patients are transferred for labor and delivery. - Handle post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers. - Care for well babies, including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, and bilirubin monitoring. - Participate in C-sections to provide neonatal care (no circulation duties required). - Support shoulder dystocia management, epidural management, and nitrous/spinal analgesia as requested. - Work with a rooming-in model; no dedicated Nursery/Nursery RN, RN will care for babies. - Ensure proper charting using the Cerner system. - Collaborate with a team of nurses, midwives, and OB specialists as needed. - Occasionally float to MS or ED for task support (no patient assignments). - Follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios: - 1:2 for laboring - 1:1 for active labor - 1:3-4 for couplets - 1:2-3 for Med Surg - Required to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled. - Must wear professional scrubs; procedural scrubs provided for OR only. - Orientation includes general hospital and one shift on the unit.
