About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Registered Nurse **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 36 Hours, 7 PM - 7 AM, Every other weekend and holiday required **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours/week **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year, med-surg experience preferred; telemetry experience preferred **License:** Current RN License **Certifications:** BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required **Must-Have:** Ability to exert physical force (20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently) **Job Description:** - Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals. - Provide patient care based on standards of care, protocols, and established policies and procedures. - Respect each patient as an individual; provide care that fosters the patient's sense of dignity and positive self-regard. - Provide patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning. - Collaboratively plan and prepare patient and family for discharge, incorporating support systems/resources as necessary. - Appropriately delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others. - Prioritize patient care, seeking assistance as needed, reassign personnel, and recognize the need for emergency intervention. - Ensure thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses according to established standards. - Provide timely and thorough reports on assigned patients to other healthcare team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient care. - Promote learning for colleagues and self by functioning as a preceptor, instructor, trainer, and attending professional development programs. - Proactively identify risk to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical errors and appropriately report errors/incidents. - Identify ethical issues in care and develop plans to address them. - Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, policies, and procedures. - Assess patient pain levels upon admission and as necessary, using the numerical pain scale. Reassess effectiveness of pain control, notify physicians as needed, and document assessments and patient responses to medication. - Obtain supporting information and complete required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the attending physician. - Interpret and document patient cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration and initiate appropriate treatment plans based on physician orders. - Take appropriate action in life-threatening situations. - Evaluate and take appropriate action for patients with chest pain or other cardiac-related symptoms. - Participate actively in daily multidisciplinary rounds for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care. - Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results, and notify the physician of changes in a timely manner. - Provide ongoing assessment and teaching to surgical patients and families using current standards and protocols. - Recognize normal and deviant progress patterns and report problems or concerns to the physician in a timely manner. - Utilize pain management devices and other techniques to ensure proper pain relief. - Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment related to surgical patients, such as traction/orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains.
