About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Float **Job Specialty:** Nursing - Float Staff **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30), with 36 hours per week, including evening/night 12-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, every other weekend, and some holidays **Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified **Experience:** Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years. Must have experience working in different Med/Surg units (cardiac, spine, neuro). Floating experience preferred. **License:** Must have a nursing license from the home state or compact license. **Certifications:** BLS certification through the American Heart Association only. Basic Arrhythmia experience required. **Must-Have:** Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the primary worksite. First-time travelers accepted. **Job Description:** - Be part of a highly respected and renowned health system, providing care within a Level One Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility. - Float across multiple departments, providing care to complex and dynamic patient populations in various medical and surgical general care units and intermediate care units. - Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care utilizing critical thinking skills to evaluate and assess patients, recognize and escalate complications, and administer appropriate nursing interventions. - Demonstrate commitment to patient and family-centered nursing care. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, nursing assistants, coordinated care roles, therapists, advanced practice providers, and medical teams, enhancing interpersonal communication skills and effectively delegating tasks. - Serve as a mentor and role model with opportunities to be a preceptor for new nurses and students. - Participate in strategic planning efforts, quality improvement, and Shared Governance initiatives. - Orientation is typically about one week, with 20 hours of non-billable time. - Scheduler may assign shifts in multiple units based on current staffing needs. If the primary unit does not have a need, shifts will be reassigned to another unit to complete the contract. Note: Orientation schedules are subject to change, and travelers should follow instructions in their welcome letter.
