About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Medical-Surgical **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour Nights, 36 hours per week **Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified **Experience:** Accepts first-time travelers with at least 18 months of recent Medical-Surgical experience **License:** Registered Nurse License **Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred **Must-Have:** - Proficiency in Foley care, IV insertion, blood transfusion administration, head-to-toe assessment, bedside report, IV push and piggyback medication administration, wound care, NG Tube, Colostomy, PEG Tube, Central Lines, Midlines, Infusaport Access **Job Description:** - Work in a 43-bed Medical-Surgical unit divided into two sections (29 beds and 14 beds) - Manage patients with conditions such as CHF, Cellulitis, COPD, UTI, Pneumonia, Sepsis, Afib, Chest Pain, and Hypertension - Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5-7, with a usual ratio of 1:5 - Collaborate with LPN/CNAs to adjust patient ratios as needed - Support on the unit includes a goal of one CNA for every eight patients, two unit clerks, and a charge nurse not typically assigned in staffing - Work without a dedicated phlebotomy team; utilize a Vascular Access Nurse as needed for midlines/PICC lines - Be responsible for monitoring and confirming saved telemetry strips, in collaboration with primary nurse and PCT - Utilize technology and equipment such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing - Be flexible to float to any like unit or patient location as needed - Participate in a 24-hour classroom and 24-hour on-unit orientation if a new hire or with 1-year experience - Follow a scheduling cycle of every 6 weeks, with a weekend rotation every other or 4 weekend days per month if on a block schedule - For holiday expectations, work one major and one minor seasonal holiday, with specific non-guaranteed time-off periods listed **Other Notes:** - Scrub color is any choice
