About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) **Job Specialty:** Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) / Pediatrics **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year of NICU experience preferred **License:** RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) **Certifications:** - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required - STABLE certification preferred **Must-Have:** - NICU experience - Therapeutic skills - Competency in IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections **Job Description:** - Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data. - Evaluate patients’ responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect patients' health, safety, and rights. - Provide patient and family education, evaluate learning readiness, and assess effectiveness of teaching. - Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity. - Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel as per State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies efficiently to provide high-quality, cost-effective care. - Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing processes. - Manage resources and patient flow matching nursing competencies with patients' needs. - Guide practice using standards of care, hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering communication, respect, and decision-making for quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence. - Evaluate personal nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations. - Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. - Use healthcare research findings and evidence to expand clinical knowledge and enhance professional practice.
