- JOB SUMMARY
- The Nurse Manager is part of the nursing leadership team and works on their assigned unit to ensure work is accomplished effectively. The Nurse Manager is the front-line supervisor that is responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial oversight of their unit. They must be flexible to meet the needs of their unit and the organization. The Nurse Manager reports to a Clinical Director and works collaboratively with ancillary departments, physicians and other health care practitioners in relation to the patients and staff on their unit.
- JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education and/or experience: Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Tennessee. BS preferred, certification required or must be obtained within agreed upon time frame after hire with Director approval. Competent in BLS and / or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or completion upon hire. Minimum of three years practice in inpatient nursing preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, license practical nurse and nursing assistants. Knowledge of and appropriate application of nursing process. Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, techniques involved in administering routine medications and / or treatments to patients. Basic computer knowledge.
- Skills: Effective leadership, organization, time management, and communication.
- Abilities: Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others. Ability to demonstrate emotional maturity by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively. Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families. Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing care plan. Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment and follow-up. Ability to use computer and learn new software programs. Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and / or paper documentation tools. Ability to think critically and problem solve while remaining focused and organized in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
