Job Summary:
The Interventional Radiology staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention. The IR RN must be able to performing moderate sedation with pre and post procedure care needs. The RN is directly responsible to the Radiology Patient Care Coordinator and radiology director, w. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. The IR RN must be proficient in IR procedures as well as RN conscious sedation procedures. The IR RN will demonstrate knowledge and provide care to all modalities in radiology.
Performance Expectations:
Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your ob.
- Demonstrate technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of Radiology\IR\ equipment including but not limited to EKG monitor, hemodynamic monitors, procedure tables, hemochron, Doppler.
- Demonstrate the aptitude for safely positioning patients in a variety of required ways using a full range of positioning devices.
- Demonstrates the ability to set up room for an open, hybrid, or percutaneous IRcase.
- Demonstrates the ability to fully circulate during an open, hybrid, or percutaneous vascular case.
- Demonstrate the aptitude for safely administering Moderate Sedation, Identify and manage complications associated with sedation and complete moderate sedation certification class, ACLS, PALS
- Demonstrate the aptitude for assisting anesthesia as needed before and throughout the procedure but especially during intubation and reversal
- Demonstrate the ability to care for patients though the pre op, intra op and post op phases of care
- Demonstrate the ability to safely minimize exposure to radiation using shielding and distance
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.
Work Experience:
Experience as ICU/ OR RN preferred but not required.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS

- Basic Life Support
