Role: RN Operating Room
Location: Pittsfield, MA
Type: 13 Weeks Contract
Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)
Summary:
An RN in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for providing direct patient care during surgical procedures. This role includes preparing patients, assisting the surgical team, maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety throughout the operation. OR RNs are skilled in quick decision-making, sterile techniques, and effective communication with surgeons and staff, contributing to successful outcomes and efficient operations in high-stakes environments.
Responsibilities:
Perform preoperative and postoperative assessments, ensuring readiness for surgery and recovery.
Assist surgeons during procedures, managing instruments, equipment, and sterile environments.
Support anesthesiologists by monitoring patient vitals and responding to changes.
Maintain and track surgical instruments, ensuring sterility and correct counts.
Act as a patient advocate, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity during surgery.
Accurately document surgical procedures, patient responses, and any intraoperative occurrences.
Coordinate with PACU nurses for smooth patient transitions to recovery.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Operating Room (OR) setting.
Proficiency in perioperative nursing, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
Familiarity with a variety of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques.
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and maintain composure under pressure.
Certification:
Certification:
Active RN license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is often preferred or required.
