About The Position
**Job Title:** Surgical Assistant / Orthopedic Assistant **Job Specialty:** Registered Nurse - Medical Center **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 8-hour Evening Shift **Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified **Experience:** 2 years required **License:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS), First Assist **Must-Have:** - Strong background in robotics (XI), neuro, general, ortho, ENT - First assist skills checklist **Job Description:** - Function as Surgical First or Second Assistant to the surgeon for both complex and basic operative or invasive procedures - Responsible for a variety of procedures or specializing in a surgical specialty when appropriate - Perform responsibilities of a Surgical Technologist if required but preferably not simultaneously while functioning as first assist - Support provided by Charge Nurse, Leads, and Supervisors - Use of Epic, Alaris, and Pyxis charting system/equipment - Cross-trained in all main OR specialties and Urology center, no floating to other hospitals **Other Information:** - Orientation: 2 weeks including education, paperwork, and specialty training (subject to change based on unit needs) - Variable start times for Day shift (5:30 am-7 am) - On-call: 30-minute response time; schedule subject to change based on department needs - Weekend and holiday expectations to be confirmed with the hiring supervisor - Scrub color: Surgical scrubs provided by the hospital; scrub caps allowed with surgical bouffant coverage - Amenities: Starbucks & Cafeteria available on campus
