Department: COVID-19 Department of Homeless, Central Office
As a Crisis Intervention Nurse, you will be part of the Joint Command Center (JCC) for the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). The role involves engaging homeless individuals on the streets, subways, and parks to conduct mental health, medical, and safety assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with DHS Crisis Coordinators and outreach teams to engage with the homeless population and provide necessary services.
- Assess mental health conditions and determine the need for immediate care or hospitalization.
- Evaluate and manage individuals exhibiting violent or harmful behavior.
- Collaborate with law enforcement for transportation to psychiatric emergency programs (C.P.E.P.) when required.
- Maintain updated records and ensure accurate documentation of fieldwork.
- License: New York State RN License, AHA BLS certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred experience in mental and behavioral health.
