About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) **Job Duration:** 8-Week Contract **Shift:** 12-Hour Day/Night Rotating Shifts **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in PICU **License:** Required **Certifications:** BLS, PALS; Chemo certification desired **Must-Have:** 2 years of PICU experience **Job Description:** - Care for pediatric patients in a 20-bed PICU with an average daily census of around 15. - Provide care for patients with common diagnoses such as congenital heart issues, DKA, respiratory conditions, neurosurgery, tracheostomies, ventilators, and G-tubes. - Titrate drips for sedation (Fentanyl, Versed, Precedex) and vasoactive drugs as per doctor's orders. - Work as a part of a team with an in-house pediatrician, residents, and APPs available 24/7. - Use RT equipment like vents, CPAP, BiPAP which are managed by RT. - Monitor patients with tele monitored off-unit; RNs do not read strips. - Self-scheduling available with possible block scheduling as per unit needs. - Required to work 2 weekends per 4-week schedule and holidays as needed, as part of the perm staff holiday rotation. - No call requirement; floating within children's units including L&D, NICU, and Acute Peds with expected adjustment to normal ratios for floating units. - Wear Royal Blue scrubs with fun, kid-friendly tops (no t-shirts allowed). - Participate in unit-specific orientation including EPIC training, NSO, competencies, and equipment review with a clinical preceptor, alongside 3 shifts in PICU with a mentor. - Charting via the EPIC system.
