About the Job
Unit Notes:
RN's with experience in both ICU and PCU settings. You will work shifts in both settings so proficiency in both areas in a larger hospital setting is imperative to a successful contract.
Certifications Required :
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS and the GA RN license are required.
Experience Required: Min of 2 years of experience in both setting is also required.
Unit EC Main
Fast track A designated area to run less acute patients through. Screen a lot of non emergent patients to community care clinic.
Notes:
# beds/trauma bays 25 monitored beds, 6 fast treatment beds, 6 fast treatment chairs, 2 trauma bays, recess bay and dedicated stroke room
# Psych/seclusion rooms Have a 4 bed behavioral lock down area that is staffed by psych.
# patients per day approx 140 visits per day
Certs BLS, ACLS, PALS, ASLS OR NIHSS and TNCC is preferred. 2 years of experience required in specialty, no 1st time travelers.

Nurse Aides/Paramedics Yes, 2-3 per shift
Security/Patient sitters Yes, will hold in main ER until admitted, will have safety sitters

Pharmacy 24/7 In dept 11 hours per day and on campus 24/7

Common diagnosis / Types of patients Peds to geriatrics, get trauma here, will keep some of trauma, some neuro keep but a lot of neuro trauma ship out, ortho keep some and ship some, no burns kept here, are a CVA center
Additional Notes Meditech 6.15 experience preferred,
Additional Questions They have a dedicted triage nurse. Do they have ESI triage training? If don't have, it is ok but would like to know system they have used for triage. Have you used Alaris pumps previously?
Unit MICU SICU and CCU will float between these all

# beds 12 beds in MICU, 12 beds in CCU & 14 beds in SICU
Certs BLS, ACLS, ASLS OR NIHSS. 2 years of experience required in specialty, no first time travelers
Ratios 1 to 2 depends on acuity; open heart 1 to 1 travelers do not need to have open heart experience and will only take if experience
EMR Meditech
Charge Nurse Run a charge nurse in each unit, try to keep them out of the staffing grid
Nurse Aides Use techs for ADLs, fingersticks, I/O
Weekend Requirement Every other weekend
Holidays Must be flexible and work in with core staff
Scrub Color forest green or white pants and white top
Tele/Monitor Techs Monitors in each room, station also at nurses station as well

Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Intensivist and NP on each unit during day; nights NP in house and intensivist on call

Common diagnosis / Types of patients Sepsis, DKA, PN, ARDS, MODS, CV surgeries, post vascular procedures, CRRT (do not need experience in CRRT), IABP (do not need experience)
Additional Notes Must have strong ICU skills, strong assessment skills, this is high acuity ICU, must be well rounded and have medical, surgical and some cardiac experience, do not need to be able to take fresh hearts, will have to present patient at interdisciplinary rounds
Additional Questions No self scheduling, no block scheduling; nurses will be assigned to one unit as their primary unit but will float to the others as they run as a pod
