Med Sol prescreens----
***PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYSRHYTHMIA EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH RELIAS IS REQUIRED TO BE SENT ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. PLEASE NOTE IT S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET TWO ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST AND IF NOT PASSED, TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE). A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS ALSO REQUIRED. YOU LL NEED TO SET YOUR TRAVELER UP FOR THIS EXAM IMMEDIATELY.
Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.
Unit Medical Telemetry
# beds 28 beds on main unit, 16 beds on overflow unit
Certs BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Ratios 4:1 ratio for tele patients, 5:1 ratio for non tele patients.
EMR Cerner
Charge Nurse Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
Nurse Aides Yes as census and staffing dictates. 3 on days, 1 on nights.
Weekend Requirement Every other weekend
Holidays Rotate in with core staff
Scrub Color Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
Tele Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
Vents Yes
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
IV Team No
RT 24/7 Yes
Pharmacy 24/7 Yes
Shifts 12 hr shifts. 7 - 730. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.
Floating All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
Floor specific orientation 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
Common diagnosis / Types of patients Med Tele is a General floor with a focus on respiratory. We also house covid-19 patients if applicable. We also have no aids at night and 1 for days if census allows.
