Job Description:
- Collaborate with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner around holistic health of students and intersection of physical and psychiatric/emotional well being
- Monitoring of students' health and wellness, and perform medical assessment of residents both as needed and on a routine basis
- Provide crisis response and first-aid for medical emergencies or student injuries, including collaboration with Emergency Medical Services as needed
- Maintain an assigned caseload of students to provide medical case management including: o Collaboration with student Client/ family members around medical needs and medical care o Collaboration with youth primary and specialist medical providers o Scheduling of needed appointments including bloodwork, medical, vision, dental, and others as needed o Routine monitoring of students' height, weight, and vital signs
- Administration of student prescribed medications
- Collaboration with nutritionist and food service around dietary and health needs
- Perform assessment and body-mark checks with students at admission and discharge, as well as following significant incidents or allegations
- Coordinate with medical providers and pharmacy around prescriptions and refills of student medications
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team of providers including psychiatric, clinical, education, and direct-care providers.
- Works directly with students and through Direct Support Professionals to provide health education and support students in the development of healthy lifestyle habits.
- Performs any other responsibilities as needed and required
- Current NYS Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in good professional standing
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN working with children/adolescents
- Experience in an educational or psychiatric setting preferred
- Experience working with youth with autism and/or psychiatric illness preferre
